Greg Ball, who wants Assemblyman Willis Stephens’ job in Albany, so far has struck out in getting Stephens to agree to debate before the September GOP primary. Ball’s been mounting a challenge to Stephens for the Republican line since May 2005.
In recent weeks, the effort involved someone in a red-and-yellow chicken suit holding a sign that chastised Stephens for being “debate free.” The bird was seen strutting in downtown Yorktown and in Southeast, where it roosted for a bit outside the Putnam County Republican Committee’s annual Silver Plate fundraising dinner at Sciortino’s Restaurant.
Ball today said no other fowl appearance was scheduled and that the chicken suit is in semi-retirement. You can still see it here on his Web site.
