Kaplowitz is now their guy
First he wasn’t. Now Westchester County Legislator Mike Kaplowitz is. The Working Families Party’s choice in the 40th State Senate District race that is.
In May, the Westchester-Putnam chapter deadlocked over whether to endorse Kaplowitz, a Democrat from Somers, or his opponent, state Sen. Vincent Leibell, R-Patterson. The committee then decided to support their own guy, leaving Kaplowitz without a traditional third-party line usually enjoyed by Democrats.
Chairman Pat Welsh said the chapter’s executive committee met and further discussed the matter before deciding to support Kaplowitz. Peter Feigenbaum of Croton-on-Hudson, a member of the party’s steering committee who was tapped for the 40th race, agreed to drop off the line, Welsh said today.
Kaplowitz today said he was excited by the party’s support.
There’s a list of all the Working Family Party endorsements on the Albany Times Union’s blog.
