Even the Times Union gives a little more credit. NYPIRG's original "Callaghan" statement was merely a call for answers to questions - without stating the questions. And then, when the answers came, NYPIRG rushed right in and demanded Hevesi's resignation!!! Oh, wait a minute, that wasn't NYPIRG. As a matter of fact, NYPIRGS's only statement since that demand has been to refer the press to Callaghan's statement which reflects their original statement. In other words this PUBLIC INTEREST Research Group remains out of the public arena on this one. I guess they feel there's no public interest in a statewide financial figure who takes advantage of the taxpayers for his own purposes.
