At the Rainbow Room…

I couldn’t help but notice that one of the first people former President Clinton embraced after wrapping up his comments at Andrew Cuomo’s fundraiser last night was Westchester County Executive Andrew Spano, who was standing very close to the podium.
So what did he say to the county executive of his adopted hometown?
“You really want to know?” a laughing Spano told me when I asked. “He said: ‘We really have to get together for some golf.’”
Spano told me he eagerly agreed, but no date was set for an outing.
By the way, Clinton also had a funny way of describing his fondness for the job of attorney general.
“I was once attorney general of my native state. I loved that job. I used to tell people it was the best job I ever had in politics, because unlike being governor, which I also did, the attorney general, by in large, doesn’t have to appoint or disappoint. Doesn’t have to hire or fire. And when you do something wildly unpopular, you simply blame it on the Constitution and go on…You watch and see if (Cuomo) pulls that shuck and jive.”
