This and that from Ball press conference

Greg Ball, a Republican running in the race for the 99th A.D., brought some supporters this afternoon to the steps of the historic Putnam County Courthouse – an often-used base for Republican politicians over the years.

The purpose of the event was to tag his opponent, Democratic Ken Harper, as a flip-flopper and came complete with . . . a giant flip-flop. Looked like it was made out of cardboard and it used pieces of foam pipe insulation for the straps.

More on the he said, he said stuff in a story later this week.

Anyway, the courthouse steps and sidewalk are usually chock-full of GOP politicos when one of their own is making an annoucement of any sort. Other GOPers were few and far between today though – which, Ball said, supports his contention that he’s not part of the machine.

Carmel Town Justice James Reitz, a Republican running for county judge; D.A. Kevin Wright, a Republican running on the Conservative line for county judge; and County Clerk Dennis Sant were there.

“The Ball sign’s leaning to the left,” Sant shouted to the group at one point. “We can’t have that.”

Congresswoman Sue Kelly, R-Katonah, showed up when it was all over and spent a few minutes greeting Ball and others.
