A Loss in Iowa for Pataki

Posted by: Glenn Blain - Posted in Uncategorized on Nov 21, 2006

Gov. George Pataki hasn’t announced yet whether he will seek the presidency in 2008, but his campaign has already lost one of its key supporters in Iowa – site of the first presidential contest.

According to an Associated Press story, Iowa conservative activist Ed Failor Jr. has resigned his position as an adviser to Pataki’s political action committee.

“I think the governor is a great guy and he did everything he said he was going to do, said Failor, leader of Iowans for Tax Relief. “I’ve decided it’s not a direction I want to continue in.

Pataki’s PAC, the 21st Century Freedom PAC, opened an office in suburban Des Moines and was active in supporting candidates in Iowa elections this year.

Failor, according to the AP, plans to review the field of Republican presidential candidates and may pick a favorite at some point.

“All options are on the table, said Failor. “I have no immediate plans of doing so.

New York’s Governor Pataki hasn’t even come out of the
box in Iowa yet and he has already lost crucial support
from a member of the Iowa Caucus…In addition this year’s
national vote indicated that people were sick of corruption in government..but in the tradition of being eternallly
tone deaf on that subject, on election day we find that
he transferred all of his new york state election money
to a PAC in Virginia to avoid the contribution requirements
of the law and to fund his quixotic campaign..not exactly
what the people of this country are looking for in a president but if he keeps taking advice from arthur finklestein and kieran mahoney..who knows…he may
be out of the race before the Iowa caucuses even begin
