Getting a jump on holiday greetings

November
28

Rather than waiting for the December holidays former Assemblyman Ryan Karben sent out Thanksgiving cards, complete with a picture of him and his smiling family, all dressed in blue and white against the backdrop of leafy trees and green grass.

“With our thanks for your friendship and our prayers for a season of light, joy, hope and peace,” reads the card followed by the names of Ryan, his wife and their three young daughters.

Since I received a card, personally addressed to me and sent to the office, I question the thanks for my friendship part. Sure- Ryan and I shoot the breeze on occasion, but I can’t imagine he or his family wanting to be too friendly with the woman who camped outside their house for several days last spring looking for a comment after he abruptly resigned from the Assembly amid allegations of unwanted sexual advances toward a male intern.
