Just great – we are now rewarding failure. It’s not enough that she failed in Yorktown (which is a Republican town) and she failed in Westchester, now she is going to work her magic in Albany. This is not about what’s best for the party. This is all about Rosemary Panio’s massive ego and sense of entitlement.

let’s analyze the problem with the westchester republican
party leadership…does anyone remember when westchester
was the place where republican presidetial candidates
had to visit…eisenhower, nixon, reagan..bush 41..
it was a bellweather county…a suburban mix of
moderate republicans and non party registered voters
who could and did vote republican…these were not
hard core right wing voters..they were middle of the
road voters who could be pursuaded to vote for a
republican…although the registration has changed
dramaticaly since those days whatprevents the
republican party from having the same kind of clout
is that they now are beggers hat in hand to the
conservative state party leader mike long and the
local ind party leader julio cavalo…for the
republican party to once again be able to win
it needs to establish itself as a stand alone
fiscally conservative and moderate social
party..a la rudy giuliani…our leaders unfortunatly
are more interested in doing a deal and using the
party for self enrichment than they are in making
the pary stand for a centrist philosophy which
supports qualified moderate candidates..instead
the westhester party was key in making sure the
candidacies of john faso and john spencer were
ratified resulting in the biggest gop disaster
since the great depression

Sorry for the incomplete post. She lost every major race with the exception of Mike Spano (and she had nothing to do with that election). Leibell won because of Putnam, not Westchester. Nick Spano was the only incumbent Republican Senator to lose. Why? Panio & co. will tell you that the rising tide of Democratic registration is unstoppable. But have we tried to stop it? There is no platform for the Westchester GOP, there are no outreach programs to voters, and there is no effort to cultivate the voters moving in from New York City. In NYC, you are practically registered Democrat at birth. But NYC is NYC. When you move to Westchester, you encounter different political issues. We are the party of fiscal responsibility, which leads to lower taxes, and of strong anti-crime legislation. When has the Westchester GOP ever even issued a press release touting our beliefs? When has our leadership ever tried to distinguish our local political issues from “the war in Iraq”? When has our leadership ever assisted the local parties?

The answer is never. Panio’s answer, via her latest Westchestergop website statement, is to “urge [people] to get involved”. That’s not leadership.

Westchester GOP is in the worst shape ever. Under Panio leadership in the last 3 years we suffered major losses. and the bleeding has not stopped.
