Running for second?

December
12

Second-in-command, that is. With Andrea Stewart-Cousins, D-Yonkers, departing the Westchester County Board of Legislators, the title of board vice chairman or chairwoman will come open. Like majority and minority leader, the job carries a $9,000 stipend on top of the board’s base pay of $49,200. Unlike those two roles, it comes with very little in the way of defined duties.

So who’s interested? Tom Abinanti, D-Greenburgh, and Vito Pinto, D-Tuckahoe, the current board whip, have been actively courting votes in their caucus. Some members also mention Clinton Young, D-Mount Vernon, because he has sought top leadership positions in the past, though he is not yet actively campaiging for this one. Abinanti is chairman of the environment and energy committee, and Young chairs the legislation committee.

No word yet on when Democrats might convene to settle the matter.

An additional $9000 for “very little in the way of defined duties”. The tax payers are fleeced everyday by County government.

The best proposal is to cut the number of Legislators in half.

That is the only way that these outrageous salaries can be justified.
