Poll: Pataki a “so-so” governor

Posted by: Jay Gallagher - Posted in Uncategorized on Dec 14, 2006

After 12 years, New Yorkers have decided that George Pataki has not been a “great governor. “So-so’’ is more like it.

A Quinnipiac College poll released today found only 5 percent of those questioned considered GOv. George Pataki, who is leaving office at the end of the year, a “great’’ chief executive, comparred to 46 percent who said “so-so,’’ 38 percent “good’’ and 9 percent “bad.’’ Republican Pataki, the nation’s longest serving governor, is mulling a run for president in 2008.

The poll had better news for another potential presidential candidate from New York. Seventy-two percent of those questioned approve of the job Democrat Hillary Clinton she is doing as senator, comparted to 23 who don’t. That’s her highest rating ever.
Her Senate colleague and fellow Democrat Charles Schumer also scored well, with 65 percent of voters approving of the job he is doing.

Quinnipiac pollsters questioned 1,144 registered voters Dec. 5 through 11. The survey has an error margin of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.

  1. the consultant

george pataki was a bright man with a lot of promise
who lucked into beating a very unpopular liberal
democrat, mario cuomo, and then, as the governor
of a major state squandered his legacy by letting
his friends make money and appointing only the least
qualified to important state posts based on
political expediency..now he wants to be president
    I think not!
