Local talent on the (inauguration) stage

December
26

Students from the Purchase College School of the Arts will be among the performers at Governor-elect Eliot Spitzer’s inauguration celebration in Albany on New Year’s Day.

Conservatory of Dance student Brian Moore, a senior in the dance program, will perform In the Mood, a three-minute tap piece he choreographed. Moore is a senior in the dance program. Another senior, Cheng-fang Wu, will perform Exile, a four-and-a-half minute modern dance choreographed by Edgar Zendejas with music by Geoggrey Oryema. Moore and Wu are both members of the Purchase Dance Corps, directed by Dean Carol K. Walker.

The 16-member Purchase Jazz Orchestra will also perform. The orchestra is directed by Grammy award-winner Todd Coolman, and performs jazz from every era. It features students Andrew Gould, Evan Cobb, Sam Dillon and Bill Todd on saxophones, Brent Chiarello, Gordon Bartow, Kyle Pollard and Michael Forzano on trombones, Max Darche, Dylan Canterbury, Jonathan Saraga and Wayne Tucker on trumpets, John Fastiggi on piano, Sam Lester on guitar, Nate Allen on bass and Paul Francis on drums.
