Eliot Spitzer, just days away from becoming New York’s governor, has announced a new homeland security chief and you have to wonder what Joe Bruno thinks of his choice.
Spitzer tapped Republican Sen. Michael Balboni, 47, of Nassau County, to oversee security and law-enforcement issues. Balboni said he was “tremendously surprised when Spitzer aides reached out to him.
Balboni’s good news is probably Bruno’s bad news. Republicans’ advantage in the state Senate dropped to 34-28 after this year’s elections and soon they will have to defend Balboni’s seat in a special election. Balboni’s district is slightly Democratic and without a well-known incumbent, Republican might be pressed to win again.
Balboni wanted out before. He wanted to be the GOP’s attorney general candidate in 2006. But Senate Majority Leader Bruno, R-Rensselaer, and others convinced Balboni that the party needed him to stay put.

BRILLIANT POLITICAL MOVE…SPANO LOST, BALBONI

LEGS, 2008 WILL BE THE YEAR THE SENATE GOES DEMOCRAT..

OF GEORGE PATAKI TO LEAVE THE PARTY IN ANY
REASONABLE CONDITION
