And life in the House goes on

January
5

The House was back at work this morning voting on a package of reforms that would make it mandatory to identify the Congressman who requests earmarks, better known as pork, destined for a particular district.

District 19’s Democratic Congressman John Hall said he supports the reforms that include restrictions on lobbyists and gift giving.

“There’s been too much connection between money and legislation,” Hall said. “It’s the way government’s been run and it’s part of the reason why Democrats regained the majority in Congress.”

After the voting has finished for the day, Hall heads off to a meeting of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee of which he is a newly appointed member.

Hall and other freshman Congress members are scheduled to spend the weekend at a retreat in Williamsburg, Va. learning about the Congressional Research Service.
