Not Hillary, but definitely a Clinton on Sunday

February

Instead of Hillary Clinton, Westchester Democrats are getting former President Bill Clinton at their annual breakfast this Sunday.

Jay Carson, a spokesman for the former president, confirmed this morning that Bill Clinton will attend his hometown party’s annual fundraiser at the VIP Club in New Rochelle. It will be his first public appearance in the region since his wife announced her campaign for the presidency.

“I am very pleased and very proud,” said Westchester Democratic Committee Chairman Reginald LaFayette.

LaFayette had been expecting Senator Clinton to attend the breakfast, which starts at 10 a.m. but her campaign schedule – which was altered because of the recent death of President Clinton’s stepfather – will take her to New Hampshire this weekend.

A year ago, the senator spoke at the event and brought the crowd of more than 400 people to its feet with a scathing attack on the Bush administration.

In addition to Bill Clinton, LaFayette is also expecting Gov. Eliot Spitzer to make an appearance on Sunday.
