Press releases start to roll before vote ends

February
7

Kudos to the New York League of Conservation Voters for being possibly the first out of the box with a pro-Tom DiNapoli press release. It arrived via e-mail minutes after Long Island Assemblyman Tom DiNapoli secured enough support to replace Alan Hevesi as the state’s comptroller but before the voting was completed.

The group said DiNapoli is a “principled lawmaker who is well known for forging bipartisan solutions to New York’s most pressing environmental challenges.” He helped pass some of the most important environmental legislation over the past two decades, such as increasing funding for the state’s Environmental Protection Fund, the organization said.

“While we are saddened to see a consistent and strong environmental advocate depart from the Legislature, we look forward to working with Tom DiNapoli as comptroller to see how his new role as the state’s chief auditor and investor of pension funds can integrate his penchant for advancing sound environmental policies,” said NYLCV Executive Director Marcia Bystryn.
