What about Pataki?

Posted by: Glenn Blain - Posted in Uncategorized on Feb 26, 2007

Last week, I conducted a series of interviews with state GOP leaders for a “story”:http://www.thejournalnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070225/NEWS05/702250354/1026/NEWS10 about their seeming reluctance to embrace Rudy Giuliani’s presidential campaign.

One interesting aspect of those interviews was the total absence of former Gov. George Pataki from the thoughts of Republican leaders in New York when it comes to the 2008 presidential campaign.

“He is not even a blip on the radar screen so far,” said Rockland Republican Chairman Vincent Reda, who is also the executive vice chairman of the state GOP.

This would not seem to be encouraging for Pataki, who has reportedly put his presidential considerations on hold but has not ruled it out.

One Response to “What about Pataki?”

  1. THE CONSULTANT

former governor george pataki is not only not on the radar
screen, he is not remotely being considered and here;s why
New York has a chance with Rudy to put America’s Mayor
on the ballot for president ..something that would have
been unimaginable a few short years ago…although the party is still dominated by the south and west and the
evangelical wing, they for some reason are attracted to
this pro choice, pro gay marriage, pro gun control,
new yorker…and the reason is clear…He is viewed as
the best candidate to “keep us safe” and that my
friend trumps the social issues…Pataki on the other
hand has all the negatives of a new yorker and none
of the positives that Rudy has…one of the reasons
is that Pataki’s reign is still suspect, that new york
state is the highest taxed state in the nation, that
he feathered his friends nests while in office and that
his chief advisor Kieran Mahoney wouldn’t know how to
advise the governor in order to position himself for
national office…even Pataki must realize that politics
is as over for him as it is for Dennis Kucinich!
