The anti-McCain campaign
Arizona Sen. John McCain’s personal history as Vietnam War veteran and a former prisoner of war doesn’t seem to be enough to satisfy at least one Rockland resident.
PoliticalMoneyLine is reporting that Garnerville resident Jerry Kiley has filed papers with the Internal Revenue Service creating Vietnam Veterans Against John McCain, a Section 527 organization.
According to the paperwork, the group will “collect donations for a Web site, radio and TV ads exposing John McCain only (negative advertising). We are completely independent and not connected to any political organization. All of the money collected will be used for the express purpose of defeating John McCain.”
In 2004, Kiley formed Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry, and traveled to the Democratic National Convention in Boston with former Yonkers Mayor John Spencer and a handful of other veterans to protest the Democrat’s candidacy.
“Kerry is a traitor,” Kiley told a reporter from The Journal News who was covering his Boston protest. He cited Kerry’s activities after he returned from Vietnam, especially testimony he gave to Congress in the early 1970s saying he had witnessed atrocities by U.S. troops.
UPDATE – Kiley just called to say that his group, which consists of three people at this point, was not ready to roll out its formal agenda but would largely focus on McCain’s support for normalizing relations with Vietnam. He added that “McCain and Kerry were joined at the hip” in their support for Vietnam’s “regime” and in ignoring human rights abuses in that country.
“We believe that John McCain has gotten a free pass from the mainstream media,” Kiley said. “We respect him for the fact that he was a POW, but the media has blown his heroism out of all reasonable proportion.”

Good thing a three member group of far left wing extreemists don’t reflect the views of the U.S. The fact of the matter is is that he’s a good guy, and they just don’t like the fact that he’s where he is, while they have emotional trauma from the war. Mccain ‘08.
NEW POLL
Should George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Michael Mukasey be waterboarded in order that they might be a better judge of its usefulness for getting someone to tell the truth?
Yes!
I want to be the one to do it.
I want to watch.
I’ll give $10K to charity if it happens.
It’ll prove there is a God.
