Paulin gets a committee
There were some minor shifts in the state Assembly leadership assignments, triggered mainly by some departures. Nothing earth shattering. But one result is that Amy Paulin, D-Scarsdale, will now head the Libraries and Education Technology Committee.
On the political food chain, the committee doesn’t rank at the top—in fact, it’s one of the few posts that don’t carry a bonus or stipend. Paulin previously did not have a chairmanship on a full-fledged committee. Instead, she led the Task Force on People with Disabilities.
One other notable change: Robert Sweeney of Suffolk County takes over the Environmental Committee from Tom DiNapoli, who, of course, just became state comptroller. Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, D-Manhattan, shifted the post from one Long Islander to another.
