Jereis responds to Amicone
Things are getting testier in Yonkers. City Republican Chairman Zehy Jereis, who was named in a federal subpoena this week, lashed out at Mayor Phil Amicone this morning and seems to make it clear that he’ll be looking for another candidate to back in this year’s election.
Could Nick Spano’s name soon enter the picture?
“Mayor Amicone has done everything possible to divide this party,” Jereis says in a statement. “Rather than building coalitions he has burnt bridges and isolated many loyal and hardworking Republicans. The mayor and his advisors are attempting to deflect attention away from his record and away from the growing lack of support for his re-election.”
The statement followed Amicone’s call on Thursday for Jereis to step down as party leader. It also comes just days after Jereis was named in a subpeona that was served on the city Board of Ethics seeking all financial disclosures filed by the party boss. The subpoena appears to be part of an ongoing FBI corruption probe.
“While the mayor preaches Republicanism his record shows otherwise,” Jereis continues in the statement. “This city has been plagued by rising taxes, increased crime in our streets and a continued lack of funding for our schools. The size of government has exploded under Amicone’s administration. The people of this city are fed up with cronyism and the hiring of political hacks.
“It is my job to work with all Republicans and find candidates who will espouse the values of our party. I will continue to do my job as chairman and insure a fair political process. It is ultimately the decision of the district leaders and the voters as to whom the next mayor will be.”

3. he has mob ties
4. he is under criminal investigation

no the consultant is describing the incumbant republican
mayor who supported nick spano;’s re-election and his
brothers election to the assembly..and who didn’t blame
nick spano as spencer did for all that was wrong with
yonkers…but rather worked with nick to bring 75 million into the city….Nick has said he is not interested in running for mayor….and i can understand why..,and take him
at his word
The consultant who has been the mouthpiece for Al (convicted felon) and Jeanine Pirro makes me wonder what they did for him?????? The consultant is upset because he cant profit from judges. Judges get the support of party leaders and dont need to pay consultant who are incompetent in county politics.
yonkers is completely out of the loop…everything you think
depends on money..you can wonder all you want about al and jeanine..but i don;t desert my friends of 3o years…As for the Judges every single campaign I have done over the past
25 years I was asked to do by the judge who was running
and 98% of them won that;s why they kept coming. I never had to solicity them as your friends do ..nor did I have
anyone make it a condition that I be the consultant or else
they would not get the nomination..they were free to hire
anyone they wanted..that has changed..and maybe the feds
should ask the most recent judicial candidates who they

records that the US attorney needs to examine
