Is Yonkers Republican Chairman Zehy Jereis circling the wagons?
The party today sent out a statement from former city GOP boss Frank Coppola that rejects calls for Jereis to resign and praises his leadership of the party. The statement was released by party Executive Director Richard Hoffman.
The statement:
“I have known Zehy Jereis for over twelve years. He has always been hardworking and effective for the Republican Party. The call for his resignation is without merit as he has not been charged with anything. This begs the question, whatever happened to the presumption of innocence? There is absolutely no reason for Zehy to step down.
“The real job of a political leader is to nominate the best possible people that can be found and then to help get them elected. This Zehy has done very well and I hope that he continues to do so.”

with all due respect for the esteemed former leader now
approaching somewhere in his mid eighties…Frank Coppola never did anything for his own financial gain while leader
he only tried to elect republicans inlcuding angelo martinelli with whom he had an on and off relationship but
with whom he always joined at the end for the best
outcome for the repubican party in yonkers..maybe frank is
unaware of the federal subpoena hanging over zehey
or the federal investigation hanging over the council..
maybe frank was asked for a letter of support without
hearing the otherside..after all zehey came up under
frank’s tutelidge but turned the leadership into a vehicle for self aggrandizement, dual loyalty and personal
profit…Maybe Frank will reconsider…
give me a break Mike. What is the personal profit? If you can’t sight specific examples don’t make the claims.
can cite a specific example..three years ago he came
to my office with the three judicial candidates ..and
he left the office and fed them to the lions..did he
make money..i will let the us attorney determine that
he was in bad faith..and the judges will testify that
they were ripped off.by his group of so called
consultants..in it not to elect anyone..but to get
as much money as they could..so for his own financial
benefit or for the benefit of his friends he took
judicial candidates and gave them to people who
HAD NEVER RUN A JUDICIAL CAMPAIGN
im sure he made plenty of cash let the feds ask allesandro,and sheinkman
they can also ask several other judges..who got screwed in the process
Not giving “the consultant” campaign business is not a crime. Running a losing campaign is not a crime. Look at the trends, Republicans are no longer winning judicial races, even multi county races. This why are so upset? because you lost a consulting gig? Come on.
And the other judge who you refer to who you claim got screwed, he lost by 80,000 votes. I don’t believe he won a single county. Are you telling me that Zehy Jereis has this much influence in the entire Judicial District.
I personally had his sign in my yard and sent out his signs and literature for distribution.
Always long on conjecture and short on the facts.

But that is not the issue..the issue is whether jeries
should remain the leader..and the clear ethical answer is
no..he has two criminal convictions, he has reputed mob
ties, and was caught on tape discussing a deal with
a known mobster, and now he is listed on a federal subpoena
so my little story is unimportant in the scheme of thigs
but it simply illustrates that jeries is a double dealing
self aggrandizing disloyal republican who has used
his position to make money ..
