No big surprise in Dems’ choice for 94th Assembly race

April
6

Democrats last night chose Kenneth P. Zebrowski Jr. as their candidate for the May 1 special election to fill the 94th Assembly District seat.

His father, Assemblyman Kenneth P. Zebrowski, died March 18 less than four months into his second term.

Zebrowski Jr. was appointed as a county legislator in January 2005, but lost the subsequent election that year to Legislator Ed Day, R-New City. Day announced earlier this week that he would not seek the Assembly seat.

The Republicans instead nominated Matt Brennan, a former New York Police Department sergeant who ran unsuccessfully for the 17th Congressional District in 2004 and for the Clarkstown Town Board in 2003.

Rockland Democratic Committee Chairman Vincent Monte said today that he’s counting on a win for the younger Zebrowski.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that we’ll win this election,” he said.
