Spano decries I-287 construction “eyesore”

April

Can you say eyesore? Westchester County Executive Andrew Spano can, and he’s pointing the label straight at the I-287 construction project running through the heart of White Plains.

Spano said today he has protested the strip-clearing of land on both sides of the highway to new state Transportation Commissioner Astrid Glynn. Spano said Glynn is “equally concerned” and will send Regional Director Robert Dennison to White Plains tomorrow.

“At Spano’s request, Dennison will discuss the project and talk about how the area will be restored,” the county executive’s office announced in a news release. The event, at 11:30 a.m., is set for the back parking lot at Pace Law School, just off Lake Street in White Plains, where there’s a bird’s-eye view of the road project.
