Giuliani will embrace abortion rights

Posted by: Liz Anderson - Posted in 2008, abortion rights, Rudy Giuliani, Uncategorized, White House on May 10, 2007

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is “going for broke”:http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/10/us/politics/10giuliani.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin on the issue of abortion rights, embracing the platform and focusing his campaign on states where the more moderate stance is likely to fare better in Republican presidential primaries, The New York Times reports this morning.

Also, the Times gives us the Readers Digest version of a much longer Village Voice piece this week about Giuliani’s commemorative “World Series rings”:http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/10/us/politics/10rings.html, which raise questions about when he received them from the Yankees and what he paid for them. Here’s “the long version”: http://www.villagevoice.com/news/0719,barrett,76566,2.html.

this will be the true test of whether republican primary
voters understand that to win the general election this
time around, they cannot make the centerpiece of their
decisions the issue of abortion…rudy giuliani on
virtuall every other issue is conservative and if the
hard right of the party insists on nominating a candidate
solely on his abortion beliefs they will relinquish the
white house to hillary clinton..an they will deserve
    everything they get

Abortion is the issue of our time. If a candidate agreed with you on 80% of the issues but also supported Osama Bin Laden, would you support his nomination in order to keep Hilary Clinton out of the White House?
