it's funny to see everyone define republican there way
if you are not pro life..you are not a republican simply
put...that of course must account for why the party
is doing so well in new york..it also must account for
why a pro choice candidate from new york is leading
the pack..not only is rudy pro choice but anti gay bashing
and like mike bloomberg into controlling guns used only to
kill people like almost all of our police departments and
they certainly aren't "liberal" The problem with many
right wingers is that they are religious zealots not
republicans..Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, and even Reagan
and certainly Bush 41 were all good republicans who did
not push for the conservative social agenda...
Chuck Hagel opposes the war..and for very solid reasons
the war was based on wrong information, mis information
cherry picked by the neocons to justify invading a
country which posed no iminent threat...read the tenet
book..Hagel has a mind of his own...and by the way
he is probably more socially conservative than I am
but there are lots of other issues that are far more
important to this nation than those..so my advice
to the poster who thinks I am a democrat is to
join either the conservative or right to life party
if you don't already...they would be reflecting your
views as their core values...we republicans have
other opinions

mike's definition of "principled republican" = liberal

mike is right is saying that the republican party is good when is comes to fiscal policy. he is wrong when he attacked their social policy and he is even more wrong when he praises the social policies of liberal democrats. in order to be a republican, you can't be a one-trick pony. mike is clearly that. his own party doesn't want him and the democrats are too serious to play with him.

but chuck hagel is a principled republican who with
or without mike bloomberg is going to have an
impact on this year's presidential race...either
as a republican or a third party indpendent candidate
and if he should decide to run...I will support his
candidacy
