Giuliani, McCain on Falwell’s death

Posted by: Glenn Blain - Posted in 2008, Rudy Giuliani, Uncategorized on May 15, 2007

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani had this to say today about the death of the Rev. Jerry Falwell:

“I express my condolences to his family, Reverend Falwell’s family, and to his much larger family …He was a man who set a direction. He was someone who was not afraid to speak his mind. We all have great respect for him … he is a person who told you what he thought and you knew where he stood. … My sympathies and my prayers go out to his family…

Giuliani’s comments came during an appearance in Columbia, South Carolina.

UPDATED:

Arizona Sen. John McCain’s statement:

“I join the students, faculty, and staff of Liberty University and Americans of all faiths in mourning the loss of Reverend Jerry Falwell. Dr. Falwell was a man of distinguished accomplishment who devoted his life to serving his faith and country. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Falwell’s family at this difficult time.”

    Dear Rudy,

This statement might work for NY but you are embarking on a national campaign. You are going to have to be a little stronger on at least some of the issues championed by Rev Falwell. We “right-wing radicals” can see right through your veiled attempt to win us over.

    Good Luck in the primary,

Please Rudy keep taking the sledgehammer to the wingnuts!

dear hoffman…rudy is honest about his positions
on social issues…if republicans don;t nominate him
we will have hillary as president..not a perfect world
    is it hoffman

Hey Mike: what planet are you living on??? If the GOP nominates Rudy (highly unlikely)than all of the social conservatives who won the GOP the White House in 1980, 1984, 1988, 2000 & 2004 will stay home leaving Hillary to be our President. That is the truth of this not so perfect world, Mike. We need a traditionalist as our President not a liberal activist. Rudy should run for Governor, he’s much better suited for a New York audience.

The consultant continues to be blinded by his hatred for Reagan conservatives.

As much as we would all like NY to be in play in ‘08 its just not going to happen. The other side of that is, if a Republican wins NY he probably can’t win the all important middle and south. Throw bloomberg into the mix (who is more popular in NY than Rudy)and it may change the equation. He steals votes from Hillary in certain places.

The fact remains that a social liberal cannot win the GOP primary or the general election. Rudy gives us Clinton. If his ego weren’t so big, we would have a Republican in Albany right now. Instead we have NYs version of Howard Dean.

    the previous poster is correct.

Consultant, why would Rudy be a better President than Hilary? They seem to be identical on every issue.
