New Rochelle Dems

May

New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson heads a slate made up mostly of incumbents who have been nominated by the Democrats to run in the November City Council election.

The new face on the ticket, chosen last night by the party committee, is Reggie Johnson, a public relations professional running in District 2, which includes almost all of the waterfront and part of downtown. Councilwoman Chris Selin now holds the seat but is not running.

Johnson joins Susan Kettner, an attorney and the Zoning Board of Appeals chair, who recently announced that she’ll run for District 1. She now has the Democratic nod for the district.

The other incumbents nominated are Jim Stowe for District 3, Roberto Lopez for District 4, Barry Fertel for District 5 and Marianne Sussman for District 6.

New Rochelle does not stagger its council elections. Every four years, the entire seven-member board, which includes the mayor, comes up for election, making for a busy campaign season.

The Republicans are scheduled to name their slate next week. The only GOP council member, District 1’s Michael Boyle, is not running.
