Nick Spano rips “unfortunate and negative comments.”

Posted by: Glenn Blain - Posted in Doug Colety, Nick Spano, RoseMarie Panio, Westchester County, Yonkers on May 25, 2007

Former state Senator Nick Spano took issue with some of the comments made on this blog and in today’s “The Journal News”:http://www.thejournalnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070525/NEWS02/705250383 about the need to liberate the Westchester GOP from his influence.

“I feel it’s important for everyone to recognize that the Republican Party is facing great difficulty and we should all focus our attention on unifying the party rather than unfortunate and negative comments,” Spano said during a telephone interview today.

As for the pending leadership change in the county Republican Committee, Spano said: “I will be as active as people would like me to be. As leaders reach out to me to seek my opinion, I will give it to them.”

Spano said he’s known New Rochelle Republican leader Doug Colety for years but noted that there are “a lot of talented people in Westchester” who could serve as GOP chairman.

“I never maintained that I control everything,” Spano said. “I’ve enjoyed a great deal of support having served for nearly 30 years in office as a member of the Republican Party and I respect the rank and file members of the party who will make this decision.”

looks like the coulety people got a little out
in front of themselves..on this one…nick spano
has been the titular leader of the party for many
years..apparently there has been some resentment
I could understand that if any of those casting
stones had a record of succesfully electing anyone
to office..but sadly new rochelle hasn’t got too
many elected republicans, neither does much of the
rest of the county..so nick held on until the republican
county committee decided to spearhead the nomination
of john faso and john spencer both of whom barely
could get the base votes of the party, and spencer
couldn’t carry his home city against hillary…
a city that is by and large conservative..so
leadership should be earned by achievments…so
far nick is right there are a lot of talented people
    out there

The consultant is correct-the problem is that people like Paul Noto are just envious of someone like Nick Spano-a leader who is respected-someone who if Im not mistaken helped Mr. Noto-guess he forgot that-loyalty is obviously something else Mr. Noto dosent know anything about. I hope whoever takes over as Chair of the Republican Party has the same leadership qualtities that Nick Spano has-they sure need it.

  3. Pinochio

Why does anyone want to give this fat piece of garbage any credibility whatsoever? He is a beached whale. Good riddance.

  4. saliva

Okay, Nick Spano is my GOD, Jealous Fuks

after thirty five years in politics in westchester I never
cease being amazed at how personal some people get when it ’
comes to people in politics they don’t like or don;’t agree
with..describing nick as a “fat piece of garbage” demeans
the person using the term ….in washington ted kennedy and
orin hatch, not exactly cut from the same cloth go out to
dinner..the problem locally is that you get a lot of
crude people with little or no formal education and little
or no understanding of manners who get involved in the
process..too bad…whether you like nick or not
he did his job and now westchester is down 69 million because he is no longer the senator..and you can’t
    spin that

To the consultant-you are correct with everything-you just left one thing out-people who make personal attacks like that generally feel they dont measure up-I feel sorry for them.

  7. the consultant

agreed…lets stick to the issues and stop disparaging
    each other personally…

pinochio needs to get a life. what a moron talk about credibility we are all wasting our time even acknowedging his slime

  9. the consultant

hey guys there is a lot at stake here…I don’t think one
party rule of the state is healthy, the governor is a democrat, the assembly is democratic, and the governor
is trying to make the senate democrat as well..that means
in order to stop the democrats from being a monarchy in
new york it is essential that nick win back the seat
and that the state party holds the other senate seats

Norman you are so right, why bother to even acknowledge any comments from Pinochio, he has no concept of politics nor how to respond in a smart fashion except to call people names.
