Schmidt enters race for Peekskill mayor

Former Peekskill Councilman Bill Schmidt is expected to formally announce his candidacy for mayor tonight at a meeting of the city’s Republican Committee, Politics on The Hudson has learned.
Schmidt will be running for the job being vacated by Republican John Testa, who announced earlier this year that he would not seek re-election. Schmidt served two terms on the city council before losing his 2005 re-election bid.
