John Hall forgets, as do many others, that the 9/11 bombers flew right down the Hudson Valley, pretty much bisecting his Congressional District. Luckily (for District residents), they did not make a pit stop at Indian Point. It was always a puzzle to me how Europe and the U.S. allowed Hitler to rise to power and virtually consolidate power on the European Continent before, finally, retaliating. Stopping Hitler in the Ruhr Valley might have cost 60,000 casualties--maybe. Instead, we had to fight a war costing 60 million lives. But now, I understand how it can happen. You elect America-haters like Hall. I don't really give a damn whether Bush's policy in Iraq will or will not elect Hall. At this point it is the correct policy and it is vital for the security of this country that we prevail.

the only national issue that will affect the congressional
elections in 2008 is where we are on Iraq..and according
to the president we will still be there..in fact according
to every single republican candidate for president we will
still be there...if that is the case than the same reasons
mitigating in favor of ousting the incumbant sue kelly
will still remain...and if you don;t believe me ask
newt gingrich who has said publicly if the congress
and the republican candidate for president have any
chance at all they need to run against bush;s iraq
policy...additionally in a presidential year turnout
in the hall district will be higher than usual with
minorities voting democratic by wide margins...Hall
will be the incumbant and assuming he is running
with his chappaqua neighbor hillary clinton you would
need to have a chuck hagel like candidate to defeat him

For the love of God, check your "caps lock" button.

But while we're on the topic, I echo the sentiments above that John Hall has done more for this district in his first few months than Sue Kelly did in 12 years. Yonkers, you say that Hall is outside the mainstream...care to give an example? Is it the stem-cell research bill he voted for that's outside the mainstream? Is it that he wants to set a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq that's outside the mainstream? Is it raising taxes on oil companies that's outside the mainstream? Is it raising the minimum wage that's outside the mainstream? Can't be those, because 60-70% of Americans support every one of those. So please, enlighten me.

Sorry, yonkers, but you're wrong. Over time the voters will learn that John Hall is intelligent, honest, hard-working and has values that resonate with them. We are SO lucky that he has chosen public service at this point in his life and to have had people who worked hard to elect him. He is doing a lot of good work already -- and that's damn hard for a freshman in Congress.

DEMOCRATS LIKE JOHN HALL AND ANDREA STEWART-COUSINS WERE NOT ELECTED BASED ON THERE MERITS AND CREDENTIALS. THERE WERE ELECTED ON A ANTI-BUSH MESSAGE. ITS UNFORTUNATE THAT TWO MODERATE REPUBLICANS HAD PAID A PRICE. AS TIME GOES ON PEOPLE IN THE 19TH C.D. WILL REALIZE THAT JOHN HALL IS OUT OF THE MAINSTREAM WHEN HE LINES UP WITH A SAN FRANCISCO LIBERAL.
