Imus attorney to speak in White Plains
Westchester County Executive Andrew Spano and Congressman John Hall are among a long list of hosts of tomorrow’s New York Civil Liberties Union bash in White Plains.
Martin Garbus, a First Amendment attorney who is defending Don Imus in a dispute with CBS, is the guest speaker at the annual awards dinner at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Time Magazine has named him “legendary . . . one of the best trial lawyers in the country,” while Newsweek, the National Law Journal and others refer to him as America’s “most prominent First Amendment lawyer.”
Garbus has represented and advocated on behalf of political dissidents Nelson Mandela, Vaclav Havel, Daniel Ellsberg, and Andrei Sakharov.

Don Imus is not a racist, his humor satirizes the “isms”, taking on the political, corporate and financial power structure in the US.
At his core he a good man, an advocate for children, who are the weakest among us. Imus’s advocacies on behalf of children include cancer, autism, sickle cell, and SIDS are well documented. He has also advocated to increase US Death Benefits for Soldiers KIA as well as wounded veterans.

This whole thing is the most absurd cluster %&$ Ive ever seen. Here is a man who fights for our soldiers, kids with cancer, our enviroment through his wifes relentless work on safe new products, keeps many elected officials on their toes by not being afraid to ask the tough questions, makes people laugh and actually gives a S(& about whats going out in the world, Yes the IMAN is brash,confrontational,agressive,a pain in the A& but he gets the G76 D*& results ask over 700 or so kids who have been handed a s sandwhich with cancer about the IMAN. Dont even get me started about this B&&& S(&. He cant even breath for GOD sakes and yet he’s out there on the horse cutting up with the kids at about 6000 feet above sea level . Yes the IMAN ruffles alot of feathers but he’s gettin it done. Tell me one person who is a better interviewer of the political people than IMUS. I have watched him for years get to truth with these people when anyone else would have accepted the BS. And now this BIG mouthed not gettin S& done greasey headed monkey lookin Al Sharptounged oops all most forgot REV. Al Sharptounged with his National Nutswork deal . If you havent read this whole organizations outlook and goals you should. The best comedy Ive read since IMUS left radio and TV. We need more people like IMUS who dont take this S^&* from anyone. I bet Al Sharptounged cant get on a HOrse. But he seems to get on other things when it concerns him. Dont count the IMAN out just yet every time he’s been the center of controversy he’s made it work to his advantage.
You would expect Imus to be defended in White Plains a hang out for right wingers. My goodness the man spews hate and hides behind his good works. That does not work :-(

I miss Don Imus. I don’t know what tol do in the morning,when I’m getting ready for my day. I have been listening to tne Iman, since I was in highschool.MY day is incomplete witrhout him. let’s not forget Bernie Lou, his wife Deidre Who he has called the green Ho. This is outragious stick. That he regreats. I’ve tried to watch the other shows and they are really bad. So I watch the local newes for the weather report,and the I listen to my radio or my cds. We miss Imus. There is no other interviewer like him. He asked the tough questions and kept the newsmakers honest. He advocated children, the environment, women, minorities, autism and other medical problems, responsible politics, the underdogs, great musicians and many other people and issues that needed championing. The rush to his judgement was uncalled for. MSNBC and CBS need to make an about face and get their ratings back by bringing Imus and the gang back.
Am I the only person who recognizes that CBS and NBC used what Imus said as an excuse to fire him? It was immediately blown out of proportion by the Media- like it was planned in advance. Al Sharpton was just a pawn in the Media’s shell game.
Imus pissed off a lot of influential groups who have the Media’s ear; the pharmaceutical industry (with his rant against autisim linked to kid’s vaccination), Hilliary Clinton (who he called the Devil), President Bush (who he called a moron. Any one of these groups could have influenced the media to silence Imus.
The real “hos” in this travesty is the Media.
Imus and Bernard have both made comments in the past that have been encouraged and supported by their bosses. This behavior is what they were paid for, neither Imus or Bernard are racist or bigots. They are paid entertainers who play to their audience.
Is Bernard being represented by a high powered attorney?
I grew up with Bernard in Yonkers/Bronx and I can tell you he is a stand up person who respects all people.
I am just about tired of hearing some people say Imus “spews hate”. That is the furtherest thing from the truth there is and anyone who says that just reveals the fact they don’t know anything about him or his show.
This thing was planned by Media Matters and it took them two years to find the three words they used to silence his voice on the air. Imus had a great program and had fans from all spectrums, liberal, conservative, black, white, and it is a shame and disgrace he was removed by MSNBC and CBS.
I too will not let Don Imus be refered to as racist and “spewing hate”. That is so preposterous. For those who watched/listened every day, we know the genuine people who created that program. Unlike many others (whom I no longer listen to), they do not have to hide behind anything. They created a great show that was good enough to raise the ratings of a mediocre station and recently received a new contract to continue doing what they did so well. No one who didn’t enjoy it had to watch. In addition, what Don and Deidre do is real and from their hearts. They make their lives count-they make a difference in the lives of others. I miss them and am hoping to get them back soon.
I have been boycotting MSNBC, CBS AND ADVERTISERS THAT PULLED OUT ON IMUS. IMUS HAS A LARGE FAN BASE, AND WE ARE OUT HERE AND WE ARE MAD AS HELL. WE WANT IMUS BACK, AND WE ARE NOT GOING TO STOP UNTIL HE COMES BACK. THE WHOLE THING STINKS. I THINK EVERYONE FORGOT TO ASK THE FANS WHAT WE THROUGHT.ONE MORE THING …IMUS IS NOT RACIST!!!
Bring Don back. What MSNBC has going now is awful. Joe is a light weight. Imus brought spark to the morning. If he ends up at Fox, I will be watching and listening.
I pray that this Lawyer representing Don Imus and the pending lawsuit against CBS sues the pants off CBS for this unfair, bigoted firing of a great man, Don Imus.
Les Moonvees or Steve Capus will NEVER be able to find anybody that can fill Don Imus’s shoes on any TV or Radio show, their ratings have dropped by 50% since the firing of Imus, due to lost viewership and continuing boycotts of their stations and their advertisers, and those will continue until we have Imus back “SOMEWHERE” on our tv and radio stations.
To allow this to happen is just WRONG! A person being fired for what he is paid to do. What a joke! Boycott CBS until they bring him back. They are bigger jerks than the ones crying “racism”. CBS needs to stand up and fight instead of letting these jerks run the show!!
Every NBC on air personality and half of the NBC broadcast managers were on Imus constantly. Jesus, Jack Welch used to come on. Al Roker was on Imus for many years. Roker was trying to cut a TV production deal with Mrs. Imus. How bad could Don Imus have been? Race baiting can be as addictive as food.
Don is not a shock jock.Have you ever heard some of these idiots. They are A holes and have nothing intelligent to say.Imus may have over stepped,but to fire him,no way.I have been follow Imus since his beginnings many years ago.Bring him back(if will come back)he deserves another chance.
