Protest outside faith and values forum

About 20 anti-abortion activists stood outside Monday night’s forum on faith, values and poverty featuring the three leading candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination.

As a gospel choir sang inside, Presbyterian minister Patrick Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Fund, stood on a sidewalk across the street and pointed out what he described “the hypocrisy and inconsistency’’ of inviting three abortion rights candidates who are multi-millionaires.

Sojourners, a multidenominational Christian social justice organization, invited Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama and former Sen. John Edwards to speak at the one-hour session.
