Walking for Obama

Posted by: Glenn Blain - Posted in 2008, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton on Jun 08, 2007

Supporters of Barack Obama will be taking to the streets tomorrow in what the campaign is calling a “Walk for Change,” a nationwide effort to build grassroots support.

Among those taking part locally is Angela Lewis, who has organized a walk in her Mount Vernon/Fleetwood neighborhood starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning.

While most of Westchester’s Democratic hierarchy is supporting hometown candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton for president, Lewis said she beleives Obama is the better candidate. She also believes it’s time that the Black community had a larger voice in national politics.

“I have a lot of respect for Senator Clinton,” Lewis said. “In my opinion, she is a politician’s politician…I want a change. I don’t see how the same old politics is going to help us.”

Obama, she said, is “a very positive candidate, he has a very motivating campaign.”

Lewis and about seven or eight supporters expect to begin their “Walk for Change” at the Westchester Garden Apartments on Gramatan Avenue. They will knock on doors and pass out Obama campaign literature.

But the Black Community is 10 % or less of the American population the Hispanic community is so much larger.. Why do you think you deserve more

you really can’t blame either the black or hispanic
community regardless of their percentag of the population
to be proud that a member of their own ethic group can
be president of the united states. the point that
black;s should be given more say in how the goverment
operates is a legitimate political point from their
point of view, assuming that the “black” vote is taken
to be monolithic..as it turns out the point is not
reality because a larger portion of the african
american community is supporting mrs clinton over
obama at this time..and the other issue is of course
whether mrs clinton is able to win the presidency..
many people both black and white feel that bush to clinton
to bush 42.to hillary..is too much like a monarchy
and that fresh ideas and a different generation are
needed if the democrats are to recapture the white
house…I wonder how ms goldberg would feel if
a jewish candidate like joe liberman or mike bloomberg
were to run and someone said its time for more
jewish voices to be heard..hopefully she would be
consistant..I on the other hand think that neither
obama nor hillary should be president for a whole
host of reasons…and that rudy giuliani beats
    either of them….

I agree That Rudy is the man unless Fred Thompson decides to run…. A better conservative
