Obama joins text message revolution

Posted by: Liz Anderson - Posted in 2008, Barack Obama, president, White House on Jun 19, 2007

Everybody’s hopping on the text messaging bandwagon. First it was “Hillary Clinton”:http://polhudson.lohudblogs.com/2007/05/14/clinton-says-just-text-her/. Now rival Democrat Barack Obama wants supporters of his presidential campaign to hop on board, too.

Obama’s campaign today launched what is described in a news release as a  “Comprehensive Text Messaging Initiative to Expand Grassroots Network and Organize Supporters.” Supporters can text “Goâ€? to OBAMA (62262) to sign up.  The campaign will send back news about campaign events, campaign developments and queries seeking “opinions or advice.” Those who join by June 30 get a free bumper sticker (ed note – what, you can’t get one otherwise?).  You can also get info at www.barackobama.com/mobile.
