Vincent Reda, the chairman of the Rockland Republican Party and a vice chairman of the state GOP, says New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s decision to leave the party is a “disappointment” but will not hinder the party’s efforts to rebuild itself.
“It’s not the end of the party,” Reda said. “The party is going to be here long after guys like Bloomberg are gone. It’s just disheartening that he forgot the opportunities that the Republican Party gave him.”
When asked is Bloomberg was ungrateful, Reda said: “I think so.”
“It appears to me that (Bloomberg) fears to face anybody in primaries,” Reda said.
