Cavallo’s board appointment
Giulio Cavallo’s hold on the Westchester Independence Party may be in question, but he still seems to be in good standing with County Executive Andrew Spano.
Spano, a Democrat, quietly re-appointed Cavallo, a doctor, to the county’s Laboratories and Research Board of Managers earlier this year. His term stretches until Dec. 31, 2011. The position on the advisory board is unpaid.
The appointment was made in March but only communicated to the Westchester Board of Legislators this month. Cavallo, whose leadership of the Independence Party is being challenged in court by an insurgent group, also serves on the county’s Police Board.
While the appointment did not require the Legislature’s approval, the head of the Appointments Committee, Legislator Suzanne Swanson, said she still may ask Cavallo to appear at one of her meetings.
“I think that we might bring him in and discuss what he does on these boards,” Swanson, a Conservative from Thornwood, said.

Where were you when Giulio Cavallo was appointed to these committees in the past when you were representing us as our County Legislator? Did you remain silent as a pay off for the Independence Line? Are you now looking at Cavallo because your opponent, John Nonna, outbid you for the Independence Line? We the people of the 3rd County Legislative District will hold you accountable for your actions and inactions in the past. Hold a public hearing about this appointment and ask the hard questions or will this bring out the skeletons in your closet? The people want to know and will become more vocal as your term comes to a close.
It is clear that Mr. Blain did not research this matter. Cavallo is not a DOCTOR and should not be on any board. This is a man that uses his position to give endorsements. This is a man that carries a full carry pistol. This is a disgrace and the County Board allows this?
Take a stance for the people of Westchester and strip this man of his titles and send him to jail before the Feds do!

medical degree, but he has no licence in NY.

Andy Spano is going to have a hard time explaining Julio Cavalows appointment to many boards with out expierience on any one of them!!!OOOOOHHH I forgot that was Larry Schwartz that arranged that…well i guess that might cost andy some votes not to mention what comes to cavalow after the FEDS finish him off…..............
Some of these blogs are amazing. “The Consultant” should identify yourself. Many people have stated, “The Consultant is Michael Edelman Esq. Is this true? To make a statement that Dr. Cavallo is (“Consultant”, “extorting money from candidates in return for the line”) is actionable. After the Independence Party in 2007 completed their interviews for candidate consideration, they held a fundraiser. Shortly thereafter many nominations were made, and some were already made prior to the Fundraiser.
Many candidates gave decent sized contributions, more so than there opposition, and yet they still did not receive the Independence endorsement. Many Candidates who gave the suggested contribution did receive the endorsement. Moreover there were endorsements made to candidates who made no contributions.
Would the “Consultant” be so kind as to provide us with his/her true identity and please back up this disturbing accusation. I find it reprehensible that so many people make such devaluing statements, but fail to state their names, and to back up their statements with facts.
So much energy is spent writing these blogs, several by repeat visitors. Perhaps there is a more productive avenue to channel these aggressive statements, by being value added in Party building for example?
Just a thought.
In conclusion, I think individuals who are willing to say who they are have a much better chance of having credibility.

to express one’s point of view…also let me
define political extortion as the act of a party
official who decides to endorse on any other grounds
than qualifications…should there be a grand jury
inquiry into dr cavalo’s requirements for getting
the ind line for judge I am sure the results
would be interesting since all people
subpoenaed would be testifying under oath
as to the amount of money necessary to be raised
by each candidate..only those receiving the line
know the answer and my guess is that none
of them would commit perjury…care to pursue
this any further?
How can one pursue this further when you fail to identify yourself? You are the one making the accusations, not the County D.A. who calls upon the Grand Jury to convene on matters in our County. Are you willing to sign your name to these accusations? Or do you plan to continue your diatribe under the cloak of anonymity? Are you Michael Edelman Esq. or are you not?
I do not require an explanation regarding anonymity on such blogs.
My point here is that it is wreckless to make such accusations under the cloak of anonymity. Since you are unwilling to identify yourself, the matter is resolved, and your credibility destroyed.
How can one earn credibility by making actionable statements without signing your name to it. If what you are saying is absolutely true, (the best defense is the absolute truth) then you should have no reservations about your willingness to sign your name to these statements.
If you are indeed Michael Edelman Esq. than as an Attorney you should know better. I will for the purpose of our readers explain why you will not sign your name to your accusations…. You know that you can be held responsible for your actions, as are we all, but in your case the Grievance Committee could be involved etc etc…. so you have quite a lot to lose. I would also think that your Partners would be very concerned if they were to know that you spend your free time writing such statements.
Michael Edelman Esq. is well known to have charged large sums of money to several Judicial Candidates in Westchester County for campaign advice.(If you are Michael Edelman Esq.) Most of whom lost their elections, you should be very cautious, and responsible in your writings. I have spoken to many candidates who have received the Independence line, many of these candidates were Judges, or Judges to be… none of whom ever said they were shaken down for money to receive the Independence endorsement. As an Attorney, Mr. Edelman, you know that you must present the facts in a case. You have failed miserably to do so here, and you know it.
State your name, identify yourself, and I would Love to pursue this dialogue. But I think you and I both know perfectly well, you simply don’t have the backbone to do it. And you are worried about the consequences.

Mr. Edelman should fully disclose that you have previously worked at Al Pirro’s law firm and that you seemed to handling PR recently for both Pirros, which probably involved a fee.
Al Pirro, may be a talented lawyer in his own right but no one can deny that his wife being DA and a rising political star at the time, definitely helped his business by gaining him access to a lot of people.
Mr. Edelman, neither you nor anyone else can deny that he has a lot of baggage and many like James and myself could recite only laundry list of accusations against him.
He may be a presence in the coming years, but not necessarily a welcome one.

I absolutley did work with albert in the early 80�s and saw
first hand the quality work he did for his clients…all
top end developers. I was not a partner in the firm nor
have I been paid as you suggest to be their individual
or joing spokesperson from time to time so your speculative
musings are incorrect….My only point is that Al has paid
his debt to society, and now is entitled to get on with his
life and that includes his practice..you may not welcome
him and that is your right..but you may also not interfere
with his legal right to represent clients…that would
be tortious interference with contract, and or defamation
