Nick Spano vows to help party

Although, his younger brother caused a stir by defecting to the Democratic Party, former state Sen. Nicholas Spano says he remains a Republican and is committed to helping the Westchester GOP rebuild.

Spano, in a telephone interview on Friday, said he realized the difficulties caused by Mike Spano’s decision to bolt from the GOP and has told newly-elected Republican Chairman Douglas Colety that he will do whatever he can to help – including raising money for the party.

“I made a commitment to him that this decision by Michael is not going to diminish the role that I intend to l play in helping to rebuild the party,” Spano said.

  1. ETHAN – I DO NOT AGREE ITHER WITH ZEHY BEING AROUND BUT I KNOW WE NEED NICK SPANO BACK IN THE SENATE. I DON’T THINK YOU AND I ARE THAT FAR APART AS FAR AS WHAT WE BELIEVE. SPECULATOR – NICK SPANO RAN BY HIMSELF. HE RAN WITH NO HELP FROM ANYONE. HE HAD TO RELY ON PEOPLE VOTING FOR HIM AND ONLY HIM TO COME OUT. SPENCER, FASO, PIRRO, CALLAHAN C’MON.. IF NICK SPANO HAD ANY TYPE OF DRAW, JUST SOMEONE THAN HE WOULD HAVE WON. HIS DISTRICT IS BIG TIME DEMOCRAT BUT THEY REALIZE THAT HE DELIVERS. RUDY AT THE TOP OF THE TICKET NICK WINS BIG. NO DEM HAD A RACE HERE IN 2006 – PEOPLE WERE IN THE STREETS FOR ANDREA FROM ALL OVER THE STATE. WHY – BECAUSE ALL OF THE OTHER TOP DEM ELECTIONS WERE DECIDED ALREADY. WE NEED NICK SPANO BACK. WE NEED TO (IN MY OPINION) GET RID OF THE DO NOTHING ANDREA STEWART COUSINS AND RETURN A MAN WHO DELIVERS AND THATS NICK SPANO.

  2. WELL SAID BANDIT – I FORGOT ABOUT BUSH – HE KILLED A LOT OF GOOD REPUBLICANS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY…

IMO, a winning Republican ticket in ’08 would be Thompson-Giuliani or Giuliani-Thompson. Newt Gingrich is a wild card at this point. He may or may not get in it. Romney has a fair amount of support, but probably not enough to win the nomination.

If Rudy is on the ticket in either the prez. or VP slots, Nick Spano will win back the Senate seat, if he runs. He might win anyway, if he runs.

The Speculator quoting Snooze 12 on Cousins’ alleged popularity is sort of like someone quoting Stevie Wonder’s comments about classic art.

  4. Ethan Edwards I completely agree with you-right on the money-Cousins popular?? with who-her performance has been dismal to say the least and by the way the speculator is wrong the 76 million in recurring aide dosent include deseg money and even if it did 16 million is a hell of alot more than cousins brought back-what did she bring back-nothing just the money that was mandated-please she delivered nothing the schools have a 4 million dollars gap-thanks andrea job well done-we need a leader in the Senate and that is Nick Spano-we need to re-elect him to his seat next year-plain and simple

    Mike,

Just for the record, this isn’t John Spencer. Isn’t is possible to not like your commentary and not be Spencer?

I think it’s a good idea that you try and help Phil get re-elected, he needs all the help he can get. Or maybe not since he has the City for sale, but, he can’t buy the votes….

  6. Again to all, why in the heck would Nick Spano ever give up what he has now to go back to the Senate and have to run every two yrs. and listen to all the complaints against him. Every voter who voted for Cousins will never admit it but knows full well what they had and lost, she will never deliver anything out of Albany and yes she will get a free pass to make it look like she did great things, and she DID NOT bring home any 344 million dollars in extra aid to Yonkers, as was said that money was already allocated. Can anyone on this blog (and boy I wish they were Greenburgh voters as they are the ones that caused all this trouble by electing her) tell me other then the New Animal Shelter for Yonkers just what did Cousins do in Albany this year? Your right she probably will get re-elected again next year on a record of nothing just because of her enrollment and she is an Africian American woman. I guess if we look way back into the loss of Nick Spano, lets look at the Guy Velella days, he is the one that cost Nick Spano his seat by demanding of his friend Joe Bruno that he needed Eastchester in his dist. knowing full well he was going to be indicted and go to jail, not only did Joe Bruno make a big mistake by giving away a major Rep. area for Nick he then backed Guy’s person and ended up losing that seat as well. Again I like Nick Spano and all that he did for the 35th Senate Dist. and I don’t think anyone did or will work as hard as he did for his constituents no matter what all you Spano Haters say, Andrea is not and never will be a NICK SPANO and we will continue to pay for the lose of Nick and to him I say, go make the big bucks and get paid for your knowledge of 28yrs and screw politics.

Nick will keep his hand in it, one way or another. He’s been a player so long he can’t help himself.

As for Cousins, no argument. She has done little, if anything.

  8. I AGREE THAT NICK IS DOING VERY WELL IN THE PRIVATE SECATOR. BUT…. THAT DOES NOT MAKE HIM TICK.. HE LOVED DOING HIS AND JOB AND EVEN STATED HE WOULD DO IT FOR FREE. I AM SURE HE WILL RUN AND IT IS MY HOPE THAT HE WINS. THE DISTRICT IS SUFFERING UNDER ANDREA DO NOTHING COUSINS.

  9. lou you are obsolutely correct-Nick Spano is a leader something that Cousins will never be-we need him back in the Senate back in his seat, Cousins has done and will do nothing and we are all suffering because of it.
