The Speculator quoting Snooze 12 on Cousins’ alleged popularity is sort of like someone quoting Stevie Wonder’s comments about classic art.

Next year, whoever the Republican candidate turns out to be for President, loses to the Democrat. It’s just the cycle. There will be no coattails for Nick Spano to run, the District is Democratic and like it or not the majority of voters are going to give Andrea Stewart-Cousinis a pass.

They will not compare her at year 1 (Year 2 by that time) to the position of Nick Spano after 26 years. What did Nick Spano deliver the 2nd year he was a Senator.

76 Million in recurring aid is really like 16 million after you deduct the money Yonkers was receiving on a recurring basis from the Desegregation lawsuit.

Again the facts please, there a 4 Democratic Senators that represent Westchester (Oppenheimer, Hassell-Thompson, Klein and Stewart-Cousins) and 1 Republican Senator (Liebell). Why isn’t anyone screaming that the Assembly Democrats did not protect Westchester with the High-Tax Aid? The Assembly does represent 1 leg of the 3 leggged stool.

Nick Spano doesn’t have a chance – but he is doing great at keeping his name in the mix. Even Spanovision admits that Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins is extremely popular.

I wouldn’t be the Speculator if I didn’t speculate. Senator Stewart-Cousins wins going away. Nick Spano doesn’t run, kills the mystique. Spano will decide that some mysterious item (you pick) prevents him from running. Guiliani won’t make a difference, neither will Mother Theresa. How many more votes for Spano will come out than last go around. Not many.

For the record, the Consultant did predict that Spano would prevail while County Legislator Ken Jenkins accurately predicted the Stewart-Cousins victory.

Zehy Jereis is dreadful, and he drags down the Yonkers Republicans and the entire County organization by his presence. Nick Spano needs to divest himself and the Yonkers and County orgs of Zehy Jereis. He should have been bounced two years ago, at least.

If Nick Spano does that, and forces Jereis out, I think he will gain considerably more support than he has now.

Wonder if Spano will make an appearance tonight at Peter Kelly’s place on the river in Yonkers. Mike Bloomberg is hosting a fundraiser there for Amicone. That’s a pretty good endorsement for Amicone, and a strong show of support for him by Bloomberg, who eveeryone knows is now an independent.

Jereis is a very heavy albatross around Nick Spano’s neck, and he also hurts the Republican party county-wide. But Nick and Angelo won’t make Jereis disappear from the scene. And why won’t they? The answer to that one is obvious to everyone, except perhaps to the Consultant, who conveniently loses his analytical abilities whenever the names Spano and Angelo Martinelli are mentioned.

Jereis will be the final undoing of Nick Spano yet, and probably already cost him a bunch of votes last time around. There was a lot of bad publicity about Jereis, extortion, organized crime connections, etc., before the election. That couldn’t have helped Nick last time.

And now, the Jereis problems continue because lately there is the ongoing Federal investigation, of which Jereis clearly is one subject, and also the Chamber of Commerce scam. But Nick (and Angelo Martinelli) do nothing about Jereis. Very curious. Or very obvious.

If what you mean to say is that organizations like the Yonkers Chamber of Commerce did not get a member item – OK. That is the same Chamber of Commerce that gave a 100,000 contract to the Yonkers Republican Chairman – Jeris and 50,000 contract to the 1st Vice-Chair – Martinelli out of a 170,000 contract. I forgot to mention that the Chamber of Commerce can find the contract for Jeris, can’t find any minutes that any Board member actually voted on receiving such funds and granting a contract to Jeris nor can they find ant resemblance of documentation to what they paid 100,000 to jeris to accomplish. I’d rather have Stewart-Cousins and Klein representing Yonkers making sure that OUR money is distributed in a way that most of us can understand.

By the way, Westchester NEVER got any of the High Tax Aid even when Nick Spano was the Senator but heck never let good hyperbole get in the way of facts. Check the info, when Bill Ryan was an Assemblyman he was railing about what – the lack of High Tax aid for Westchester.

Just because Long Island Republican Senators stole money creating a formula that would only apply to their districts does not mean that we should. Aid should be distributed by need no greed.
