Green House in Lewisboro

Posted by: Susan Elan - Posted in Uncategorized on Jul 17, 2007

The House approved $100,000 in federal funding today for affordable housing in Lewisboro that uses environmentally friendly building techniques.

A-HOME, a Mount Kisco-based organization, is constructing a three-to-four bedroom, affordable single family home in Lewisboro. The “green” house would be made available for local first responders who are too often priced out of the communities where they work, said U.S. Rep. John Hall, who helped win approval for the funding.

It was included in the 2008 Energy and Water Appropriations bill which must still be approved by both houses of Congress in conference and signed into law by the President. The House passed the bill today by a vote of 312-112.
