The best offense is a good defense, Eliot Spitzer threw Joe Bruno a lob ball and Mr. Bruno hit it out of the park. That is how the big boys play. Eliot tried to be a little to slick and got caught with his pants down. Mr. Bruno has been energized by Mr. Spitzer’s mistake. When you go after someone, you better make sure you have your hands up at all times. Mr. Spitzer dropped his guard and he is paying the price. As they say, "Don't throw stones when you live in a glass house".

You cannot govern in the same fashion as you served as Attorney General. There should be a mutual respect for all levels on government, to include the Governor’s office, the NYS Senate and the NYS Assembly. Until Mr. Spitzer understands and respects all level of our elected government, he will face major obstacles.

Now Eliot Spitzer must start all over again and try to regain the image that he had as a reformer and someone who was going to change things on day one. Eliot Spitzer may have changes things on day one, but not as we expected, it appears the Governor would like to have a police state where he uses the state police like Russia used to use the KGB.

Bruno is no angel. That's for sure, and neither is Silver. So I agree with Jeff Green.

But this scandal right now is focused on Spitzer. Fred Dicker in today's Post reports even more e-mails were held back from Cuomo by Spitzer's aides...e-mails about all this which were sent to Spitzer himself. That's a big "Uh-oh,"
and the hole Spitzer is in continues to get deeper.

The scandal here is that no one is paying attention to Mr. Cuomo's report wherein he stated - quite clearly - that the rules concerning use of State aircraft (and State Police escorts) are so loose that while it may not have been illegal for Mr. Bruno to feed at the public teat and combine politics with work, it could have been perceived as such by a casual reader.

But the Real Scandal is in the State not fixing the loopholes nor anyone calling for such.

Let's face it: Joe Bruno is a, um, not a nice guy, and he's in this game for one thing: power. He needs to be knocked down a notch (or into retirement) and if he's going to be running around the nation throwing stones in the Governor's direction he needs to be ready to accept a few tossed back. A report in an upstate newspaper this morning shows that many who've contributed to him have done so illegally. Is this the can of worms he intends to open? If not, it's too late. Either way, Joe Bruno is going down. Now, if we could only find a way to rid ourselves of Sheldon Silver as well.
