Sen. Barack Obama announced today that Pennsylvania Congressman Patrick Murphy, “the first and only Iraq War Veteran to serve in Congress,” is supporting Obama’s presidential bid.
Murphy formerly taught constitutional law at West Point. He was deployed to Bosnia in 2002 and Baghdad from 2003-2004, and is a recipient of the Bronze Star.
Obama, who is speaking to the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention later today, called him “part of the new generation of American leaders that’s bringing a fresh voice to our nation’s capitol.”
