AFL-CIO to endorse Young, Williams

September
11

The Westchester/Putnam Central Labor Body of the AFL-CIO is expected to formally endorse challenger Clinton Young’s bid for Mount Vernon mayor, and Lyndon Williams’ candidacy for county legislator representing the city, at an event Thursday, the candidates announced this afternoon.

The news conference is set for noon  at the Oak Street fire station, at 9-11 Oak Street in Mount Vernon.

Paul Ryan, President of the chapter, said in a statement that Young “has always been a friend to the thousands of working men and women in our county” and “cares about our key issues, such as health care, educational opportunities, living wage, worker’s compensation and other initiatives that improve the lives of working people. We know that he will make an extra effort to listen to the voices of working people and help to improve their quality of life.â€?

Ryan similarly said Williams “will listen to the voices of working people and that he will work with them to improve the lives of all working families.”

  1. Time to fumigate MV city hall

The Mount Vernon fire fighters have been screwed by Ernie for the past twelve years and they refuse to be cowed into endorsing Ernie like the PBA did. The firefighters can be a very active force in MV elections if they choose to be, as will be the AFL-CIO. Good job Noah, Charlie and the rest of the exec board in endorsing Young and Williams. Let’s get a good photo of the candidates with MV’s bravest in front of “The Pride of the West Side”.

  2. Robert Schwartz

How dare they even think about endorsing two Anti-Semetics like Clinton Young and Lydon Williams.

These two people and their camp has attacked the Jewish and Muslim Faith.

I’m a Jew and this is our time to prepare for Atonement.

The both of them need to step down from their present political offices.

    This is shameful.

  3. Time to fumigate MV city hall

Hey Bobby, in detail, please explain how they attacked the Jewish and Muslim faith.

Robert Schwartz, you sound like a real @#$hole. I came in a Serphear Conn supporter and left a Lydonn Williams supporter. Nobody invoked religion but, Serphear Conn. You sound stupid.

  5. Robert S.

Well that explains why you guys are a bunch of Anti-Semetics.

You will see quicker than you can image the power of the Jewish community.

Where in the world did Robert Schwartz get the idea that Clinton Young is an anti-Semite or that he has attacked “the Jewish and Muslim Faith”? I am Jewish and have worked with Vice Chair Young for the past ten years and have never heard him utter a word against any religion or to denigrate anyone because of his or her religion. For Mr. Schwartz to accuse Clinton Young without citing any evidence to back up his charge is shameful and I think Mr. Schwartz has something serious to atone for this week.

Where does Robert Schwartz (if he even really exists) come to the idea that Clinton Young and Lyndon Williams are anti-Semetic? I know both men and I can say with certainty that that couldn’t further from the truth.

FYI, I am a past president of the Jewish Community Council of Mount Vernon. I support both Clinton and Lyndon.
