UPDATE Davis rides to debate in style
CORRECTION:
The white, super-stretch Cadillac limo parked in front of Cablevision’s Yonkers studios Monday night was not the transportation mode for Mayor Ernest Davis. It had been reported on this blog that the mayor arrived to the debate against County legislator Clinton Young in the vehicle.
John DiBlasi, Davis’ chief of staff, said although the vehicle was driven by campaign staff the mayor did not arrive or leave in the limo.

Most debates at Cablevision’s Executive Boulevard studios in Yonkers are sober affairs, with candidates and maybe one or two handlers or aides in attendance.
Not last night.
In addition to the vehicle festooned with balloons and Davis’ campaign posters, the incumbent Democrat brought dozens of supporters who also decorated their many cars with balloons. Just before the debate the small crowd joined hands in a circle and held what appeared to be an impromptu prayer vigil.
After the debate the ardent admirers greeted Davis with chants of “Four More Years.�

Then I’m going to ask you to do something else for me ask them why are they leaving? I feel one man cant find the cure for Mount Vernon but as a community along with one man we could make it a very beautiful place to live.

People are selling their houses now because they thought they could cash in on the real estate boom. Too bad they missed the boat. In my neighborhood, there are about four houses for sale, and none on my block.
Most people leave Mount Vernon because of the deplorable secondary schools. This is not a place to raise a family if you have to send your kids to public schools. I am not living in fear, because I don’t live in the middle of some derelict neighborhood taken over by gangs and drugs. If people choose to ignore crime, and don’t want to cooperate with the police, then they do live in fear.
To the person who stated that he/she didnt know anything about Clinton until now. You just told on yourself that you dont know how to interpret what you read. Define Legislature and once you reach that step then research what each legislature does for each and every community in which they are responsible for. You people. I’m sure Mr Young’s family is most upright. Politics is out and out warfare. I’m not for Davis or Young. The Dems need stronger candidates (Walker-Williams). I only express my opinion by observation. You may ask why is it worty. It’s worthy because it demostrates Davis’ lack of common sense and blatant disregard for others who ars struggling to make ends meet in Mount Vernon, but yet still have to fir the bill to payback 2.9 million dollars that is missing under his watch.
I think for him to attend a debate which every other person attends under the radar in limo shows he doeas not even care of the perception that others may develop about the City of Mount Vernon based on his actions.
Why would you even put yourself in this position in such a public way right before a debate and I week before an election. It jsut does not make sense for so many reasons:
People are going to want to know if he paid for the limo. If he did, where did the money come from and why would you waste money on a limo. In that case it represents his lack of constrait in making costly expentiduters. If he did not pay for the limo, then who donated the limo and if it was donated then he must list the cost of the limo as a campaign donation. Either way it makes no sense and it makes him as if he lacks good judgement.

Yes, I was on my way home from work and I live off of Columbus so I walked straight from Pathmark through third street and Mayor Davis and his cult was there screaming out something and I kept on walking.

How about a community based group focusing on PARENTAL responsibilities? School board elections and education of the youth. Cleanup the board of education. Get rid of the incompetency. This type of election is by far more important than a mayoral election. The outcome of their decisions effect the future of the youth. Parents should go those meetings and protest about the schools. No mayor can solve that problem. Most problems can be solved by education. The uneducated and disenfranchised are the root cause of anti-social behavior. The mode of transportation, that a mayor chooses, does not address the real and obvious issues. Next time, the mayors backers, might use MoPeds.

Ernie Davis is not the greastest Mayor ever, but I can tell you he is much better then Clinton Young. I have watched Clinton Young for many years, Clinton is about Clinton and how much money he can get for himself (not his community). Clinton runs around trying to hustle people for construction jobs while using his position as legislator as his sale pitch. I have watched first hand as Clinton has taking advantage of people because they thought he would cut their funding or stop a county program if he did not get his way. Clinton Young as Mayor will be the demise of Mt. Vernon.

All candidates should calm down. True debates are planned by others. Fact is if you cannot attend, you cannot attend. These are men and women with very busy schedules and if her scheduler is not of the Jewish or Muslim faith, he/she may have made a mistake. Sometimes a rose is just a rose. I hope that all candidates can get beyond petty differences to focus on issues. Time is short and next tuesday is close. What do they think on capital improvement $ that come from the state? What has the county accomplished in their hiring and awarding of contracts to men and women of various ethnicity? How has the infrastructure of the county been improved? These are real issues. My support for one of the candidates does not blind me to the issues or the mudslinging it just makes me want more answers. Remember anytime Ernie needed fund’s he went through Clinton Youngs office and got it. They were friends, it just sad that Clinton and Ernie are on two different pages now. I am not a registered Democrat, so I have no vote in the primary. I’ve just read the comments, and wondered who could supply a response.
Nothing, I attended the debate a Serphear Conn supporter and left a Lydonn Williams supporter. Think about it question, if anyone said anything about the Jewish faith or people don’t you think it would be on every news outlet in the New York Metro area.

Getting back to the real subject, DEBATE on TV, I looked again at the paper throwing incident. In review you might see Mr Young threw the first document. Mr Davis responded to Mr. Young’s aggressive moves. Mr .Young told the mediator that he would leave if Mr. Davis continued to defend himself. HMM.
IS THIS CUT AND RUN OR WHAT??
DAVIS MAY BE OLD AND COMPLACENT, BUT HE IS NOT DEAD.I PERSONALLY DON’T CARE FOR EITHER CANDIDATE, BUT MOUNT VERNON DOES NOT NEED SOMEONE WHO RUNS FROM THE FIELD OF BATTLE. IF I HAD TO CHOSE BETWEEN THE TWO, DAVIS IS THE STRONGER OF THE TWO.
MOUNT VERNON DOES NEED NEW LEADERSHIP, NOT WEAK LEADERSHIP.
