Putnam clerk opposes Spitzer initiative

Posted by: Susan Elan - Posted in Eliot Spitzer, immigration, Putnam County on Sep 21, 2007

Putnam County Clerk Dennis Sant issued a press release minutes ago opposing a change in the state motor vehicle law proposed by Gov. Eliot Spitzer.

No longer requiring applicants for a state driver’s license to provide social security numbers or other proof of legal resident status would make Putnam County less secure, Sant said.
