You might say Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is building a good foundation for her presidential bid.
Her campaign announced this morning the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers has endorsed her candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Clinton also has scheduled a 1 p.m. press conference in Washington at the Holiday Inn on the Hill at which Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh will announce his endorsement. Howard Wolfson, Clinton’s campaign spokesman, confirmed the expected endorsement in an e-mail this morning to Maureen Groppe, Washington correspondent for The Indianapolis Star and three other Indiana newspapers.
Bayh, a former governor who considered running for president before dropping out in December, joins other senators such as Michigan’s Debbie Stabenow and New York’s Chuck Schumer in support for Clinton’s candidacy.
On the labor union side, Clinton’s campaign noted in a press release, “Clinton has also been endorsed by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and the United Transportation Union.’’
