The New York City Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association has endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for president.

According to a press release issued by the Ilinois senator’s campaign, the 9,000-member union is the largest municipal jail union in the country and the second largest law enforcement union in New York City.

Obama, who traveled to the city for today’s endorsement, will be in Manhattan again on Thursday for a rally in Washington Square Park. The gates open to the public at 5 p.m.
