Posted by: Liz Anderson - Posted in 2007, Ernest Davis, Mount Vernon on Sep 27, 2007

Petty vandalism? Political payback? Mount Vernon Mayor Ernie Davis reported to police that his city-owned SUV was “scratched with a key”:http://www.lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070927/NEWS02/709270448, causing $1,500 in damage, while it was parked behind City Hall yesterday.

“It was bad,” Mount Vernon police Commissioner David Chong told our reporter, Will David. “It was the entire length of the car.”Chong added, “We are treating it as a criminal mischief.”

The mayor was expected to make a statement on the incident later today.

Political payback? The SUV is owned by the city. The insurance is paid by the city. A paid city employee will drive it to the repair shop. The city will get him a replacement SUV immediately. He will be driven, as usual, wherever he wants to go by a paid city employee because he refuses to humble himself to drive. Sounds like there’s not much inconvenience here, as opposed to what a normal person goes through with a situation like this. And then, the new Mayor will not want to take over a car that has been re-painted. He will order a shiny, brand new one at the taxpayers’ expense.

Liz, that’s really cheap and tawdry of you, but not unexpected considering that you’re a “journalist” with The Journal News. Sure, you used a question mark after your “Political payback” line. However, that doesn’t change the fact that you are trying to sensationalize this at the expense of the Young campaign. You should be ashamed of yourself. You have no class.

Takes on new meaning of Keys To The City.
I recall Tom Sharpe driving around the city in a brown Plymouth or Dodge.

He had one bodyguard, He was an ex cop with nothing to hide. I guess he didn’t need all the security. He was a native New Yorker, guess he didn’t require all of that “Hail to the King” garb.

Why is it that the issue of the PILOT request have not been pursued by TJN, is the media afraid of asking a Mayor from a balck city what is going on? Why is the media not asking / inquiring about the BBQ PArty that the Mayor had at the expense of the ciyt’s taxpayers?
Are you afraid of Mr. Davs saying that you go after him becuase he is a black Mayor in a black city? Are you afraid of going into a black Democratic stronghold?

Why is the media not really exposing all the things going on Moutn Vernon – an expose is needed and requested.

I agree with “a hui hoa” in some of what he or she stated.

Have you run out of material to report on?

Are you trying to create more turmoil by innuendo?

Listen to what “Concerned Resident” is asking.

    There ,Liz, the story lies.
