What was Amy Paulin up to?
Assemblywoman Amy Paulin made what’s become a rare appearance at the Westchester Board of Legislators last night. The Scarsdale Democrat visited the board’s chambers just before the start of the 7 p.m. meeting and moved from office to office, greeting various lawmakers.
With Paulin’s name requently mentioned as a possible primary challenger to County Executive Andrew Spano in 2009, could this have been a sign that she intends to have a bigger presence in Westchester government in the coming months?
Not so, Paulin said today. She simply had a meeting in the building with Camille F. Murphy, director of the county’s Office for Women, and decided to stop by afterward.
“I popped downstairs to say hi,” said Paulin, who prior to being elected to the Assembly was a near-fixture at county legislature meetings as a leader of the Westchester Women’s Agenda. “I said hello to some of the Democrats and some of the Republicans. And then I left. I’m very bipartisan.”
Paulin has said she is considering a run for county executive in 2009 but doesn’t expect to make any decisions about a candidacy until after the 2008 elections.
Today, Paulin held a press conference with Assemblyman Mike Spano, who is not releated to the county executive, to tout legislation that would toughen penalties for people caught driving while intoxiated with minors in the vehicle.

People who “drive while intoxicated with minors” should be arrested on charges other than vehicular.
