Ohio governor endorses Clinton

Posted by: Brian Tumulty - Posted in 2008, Hillary Clinton, Rudy Giuliani on Nov 09, 2007

Earlier this year one of Washington’s most respected political handicappers speculated that Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland would be a natural running mate for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is she becomes the Democratic candidate for president in 2008.

Strickland, the most prominent Democrat in a key battleground state that George W. Bush won in 2000 and 2004, helped his chances of that coming true by endorsing Clinton today. Last year Strickland, the son of a steelworker, was elected Ohio’s first Democratic governor since 1986.

USA Today reports that in a conference call with reporters Strickland said he wanted to “put the vice president issue to rest.’’

“I love being the governor of Ohio,’’ he said.

The political handicapper who pointed to Strickland as vice presidential timber was Charlie Cook, editor of the nonpartisan Cook Political Report.

The same day Cook made that prediction he also observed that he had a better chance of winning the Tour de France than Rudy Giuliani had of winning the Republican presidential nomination.

Giuliani, however, continues to lead the Republican field in national polls.

please….who really cares and why is this important to the people of Westchester. I know the liberal media love Hillary and just loves to brag about her success, but this blog post is a joke. Get out of your chair and go cover some issues at the local level in Westchester.

Who cares, indeed. This guy should be trying to rescue Cleveland, which is rapidly becoming East St. Louis. Son of a steelworker? When will these phonies stop bragging about their supposed poverty?
