The new campaign against Stewart-Cousins

November
12

State Republicans are taking their campaign against state Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins up a notch today.

The GOP, in what spokesman Matt Walter described as a “targeted cable buy,” began airing televisions critical of Stewart-Cousins’ efforts on such issue as taxes, health care and education funding. The ads are similar to a series of web ads the party released earlier this year.

“The point is to inform Sen. Stewart-Cousins’ constituents about her lack of success in these key areas,” Walter said.

Stewart-Cousins’ spokesman Tom Staudter called the ads a “pathetic political gesture,” and expressed confidence that voters would reject them.

I have to be honest..I don’t think its effective to use
a little kid in the ad..kind of like using the kid
as a pawn..as much as I agree with the ad and the ineffectiveness of ms cousins…I would have preferred
obvious democratic types from yonkers and greenburgh
clearly the child is not old enough to understand
the meaning of what she was reading..

  2. Ben

Mike – I agree, but at least the child is excused. Cousins doesn’t understand most of what she reads either.

  3. TG

The message is hiting home regardless of who does the acting. Cousin’s is not getting the job done, she is ineffective and her district is paying the price for it.

  4. Ian

I am disgusted by this stupid attack on Senator Cousins. In the
worst judgement, a child actor is employed to call make a bunch of hollow remarks on a subject she likely knows nothing about. Who makes this crap?
I know and like Andrea Stewart Cousins and she is doing a
great job. But where are the real conservatives? The ones who respect
children, competence and benevolence? This ad is gross.

  5. LOU

I LIIKE THE AD. THERE WILL BE BETTER ONES TO COME FOR SURE. IT TELLS IT LIKE IT IS. ANDREA DO NOTHING COUSINS JUST CAN’T GET THE JOB DONE. LET’S UNITE BEHIND NICK SPANO AND BRING BACK A SENATOR THAT COULD DO MORE THAN TALK ABOUT IT, HE WILL BE ABOUT IT AND BRING MONEY BACK TO THIS DISTRICT. THE ONLY THING THAT ANDREA BRINGS HERE IS A DIFFERENT UGLY SCARF EVERYDAY.

Most posters agree the accuracy of the message in
the ad..its the vehicle that needs to change..

  7. Shortcake

Whether or not you agree with the vehicle being used or not its about time that Cousins answers what she has done-we all know the answer-nothing-her spokesperson calls the commercials a pathetic attempt and voters wont be fooled-sorry to disagree with you but they have already been fooled and lied to-Cousins knew she could not deliver anything but made voters believe that everything would change on day one-it did but not for the better-we lost our voice in Albany-the voters will not be fooled by her again.

  8. RJ

When the commercial is long forgotten and new commercials are aired, it will be the constant message of “Cousin’s is not getting the job done”, that will be remembered.
This is not a one shot message, this will be a series and the message will be loud and clear.

... and now the ad is gone … since Senator Stewart-Cousins husband is in ICU and has been for over 1 month. Tom Cousins has been in the hospital since the end August.
