Robertson acknowledges Yonkers mayoral defeat

Posted by: Len Maniace - Posted in 2007, Dennis Robertson, Phil Amicone, Yonkers, Yonkers elections on Nov 14, 2007

A little more than a week after Yonkers voters soundly endorsed Mayor Phil Amicone for a second term, challenger Dennis Robertson this morning acknowledged what almost everyone knew – the Democrat had been solidly beaten.

Robertson said he called Amicone this morning, but he he didn’t get to directly congratulate the Republican mayor. After getting a recording on Amicone’s cell phone, Robertson left a message, said the City Councilman who represents the Yonkers’ 3rd District.

“I’ve conceded and life goes on,” said Robertson, adding that he hoped the mayor would call him back and that the two could perhaps get together for coffee.

Robertson said he made the call after watching the recount of voting machines that began yesterday and is expected to continue at least until the end of today. Throughout the recount yesterday, Robertson said, there was no sign of any weakening of Amicone’s lead. Amicone held a 59 percent to 41 percent Election Day win.

The Councilman, whose term ends with the new year, said he was pleased with the campaign that he ran and said he believed it was a positive one. And he insisted he wasn’t going to disappear from the city.

“We didn’t have a dislike for each other. It wasn’t personal,” Robertson said. “I didn’t think he was a good mayor and I still don’t think so, but the people believe it.”

if it took dennis a little more than a week to
understand how to be a gracious loser..than
yonkers is very lucky he is no longer in public office

I’m not a big fan of Amicone, but Robertson was a very poor candidate and showed a complete lack of class by waiting this long to concede and congratulate Amicone.

Now he can go clean Jerk-ha’s slums…

All Robertson did is prove what was said about him
since Day One. He is delusional, and he has an
addictive personality. He and his buddy Spencer
are two pea-brains in a pod.

  5. Ethan Edwards

But he still lies and says he ran a positive campaign.
It was negative beginning till end (today) and loaded
with lies, both his own and Zherka’s.

Get Robertson outtta here please. He said he
isn’t going to disappear? More delusions. Robertson
    is TOAST.

He lost? Charming of him to finally notice. How about a new election and a suit based on racial bias? Ernie Davis is giving that a shot.

    IT’S ABOUT TIME DENNIS?

Politics in Yonkers is rarely about issues and this race was no exception. Dennis was in a position to point out certain things the Mayor couldn’t get done…but as a councilman, Dennis’ flaws are far greater than Phil’s. Let’s hope the council can get back to work improving the city and not continue the politicking that has stopped government from progressing these past few months.

and that is really the key…do annabi and mcloughlin attempt to undermine amicone, taking direction from zhey
jeries…or does a coalition of constructive
government develop with lesnick, barbato, murtaugh,
mcdow and gronowski forming a solid bi partisan
    majority

Robertson and Zherka will be doing a road
show together, with John Spencer driving
their gypsy wagon as they whinny their
    way throughout the midwest.

Meanwhile, don’t count on much from Lesnick.
He could have a few problems of his own soon,
more than his usual ‘nutty professor’ variety.

major media outlets don;t seem to be biting on
the lesnick zherka email connection..you think
its because they don’t want to credit hezi
    and lend him any credibility?

  12. Ethan Edwards

Having read that article, there is no denying
e-mails were exchanged. Lesnick admits it.
So it’s a matter of what was really in them.

The connections between Blassberg of the Guardian
and two of Lesnick’s staff seem to hold up, so
there is no reason not to do a story. Aris says
    YES, Lesnick says NO.

The city of Yonkers also should start an inquiry
into this situation. If what Aris wrote is true
all the way, at least two members of Lesnick’s
staff will be in a considerable amount of trouble.

the mayor needs to get rid of FLEMING WHAT A TOOL

“major media outlets don;t seem to be biting on

    and lend him any credibility?”

That is one reason plus plain bone lazyness.

Look at Comissioner Harnett’s open letter on YT, about the Swiftboating of the YPD by Loser 12. He has turned a lot of heads with this letter by virtue of its reasoned professional presention.

Does Len Maniace or Janine Rose report it? Nope. Bury it under the rug.

Len. These are serious charges by the Police Comissioner. How about responding and telling us why you wont run with the story?

  15. Ethan Edwards

Len doesn’t write half of what he should.

I also hesitate to call the JN or News 12 “major
media.” Big fish in a small Westchester pond, but
    that’s about all.

The Hartnett letter K brings up is a good point.

That deserves wider coverage. But the JN is
now involved with RNN, and that goes back to why
the JN IGNORED the Yonkers primary and mayoral
debates, which aired on News 12 and a JN reporter
was not on either panel. To them, that meant
    the debates were not “newsworthy.”

The local media is a mess.

how about the courtesy of a reply? why wont you cover this story?
